FAQ
How is Runner different from Compute?
Compute gives you a machine with its own disk and access to it. Runner gives you the service and keeps the machine out of sight, with no volume and nothing to administer. If your workload writes to local disk, use Compute.
Why is there no storage meter?
Runner has no storage of its own. Persistence belongs to a managed datastore, which is billed on its own row.
Does it scale to zero?
No. Runner is for availability: the service stays up, so the first request is answered as quickly as any other. If you want a service to sleep between requests, use Container.
Can I get a shell into it?
Yes, an audited one. The session is recorded, including who opened it and when. Its contents are not.
Is there a minimum spend?
No. Runner is metered and nothing else.
